Situation 05Funding the next stage

We need funding for the next stage

Public programmes and private investors ask different questions. Both are easier to answer once eligibility and the company's records have been checked.

In short

At stake
Months of your team's time, and the timing of the round.
The exposure
Weeks go into a programme the company could never have won. Many programmes are for small and medium-sized companies only, and a larger shareholder or sister company can take you out of that class. An investor who finds gaps in the records can lower the price or walk away.
What Lexaero delivers
A reasoned yes or no on eligibility for each programme, the application planned and drafted with your team, and a company record put in order for an investor's due diligence.
First step
A go or no-go review before anyone writes an application.

Country by country

General orientation as at October 2026. It is not legal advice, and what applies to you turns on facts this page cannot see.

Public funding

In the Netherlands
Dutch schemes sit beside the EU programmes. The WBSO, the main one for research and development, lowers the payroll tax on the staff doing the work, so a company benefits only if it employs them on a Dutch payroll.
In the EU
EU programmes such as Horizon Europe, including its EIC Accelerator, fund entities established in a member state or an associated country. National and regional grants are subject to state-aid ceilings, which cap what one company may receive.
In Switzerland
Innosuisse funds innovation projects carried out with Swiss research partners, and Switzerland is associated to Horizon Europe, so Swiss entities can take part.
In the United Kingdom
Innovate UK runs the national programmes, and the United Kingdom is associated to Horizon Europe, so UK entities can join EU consortia.

Investors and lenders

In the Netherlands
New shares in a BV are issued by notarial deed, and any individual who ends up with more than 25%, directly or through other companies, is entered in the UBO register.
In the EU
How shares are issued, and what an investor can be promised, follows the company law of the member state where the company is registered.
In Switzerland
A capital increase is resolved by public deed and entered in the commercial register before the new shares exist.
In the United Kingdom
Share allotments are filed at Companies House, and an invitation to invest may be communicated only by, or with the approval of, an authorised firm unless an exemption applies.
